The McDowell-Phillips House Museum
205 S. Prospect, Medina
The McDowell-Phillips House, a beautiful Queen Anne Shingle-Style home, was built in 1890 by R.M. McDowell. The house features 7 fireplaces and 14 rooms. Located in the Bankers Row Historic District the home is considered the largest historic house in Medina.
The 2019 acquisition of the McDowell-Phillips House provided the Historical Society with five generations of one prominent family’s artifacts, furnishings, and memorabilia, plus many items from our county’s history. This Queen Anne jewel has given us an incredible new event and exhibit space! Campaign banners from the late 1800s for Lincoln and McKinley are on display. Follow the progress of the McDowell-Phillips House renovations. We have partnered with Armstrong Cable and Main Street Medina to host a docu-series on the preservation projects with this iconic house. The episodes produced by Armstrong Cable are about 30 minutes each and highlight the exterior and interior work done since early 2020. Click the link at right to view these YouTube episodes. The series will continue as the house projects continue to improve our newest museum for all to enjoy! |
